Yes!!!
Kava Kava root is excellent for aiding sleep, as long as you get it in a strong dosage. I recommend the powdered form for its strength (like the brand Kava King), but it tastes awful. It also comes in capsules (liquid capsules are best because they’re absorbed by the body better – I like Gaia brand), teas, etc. Kava Kava is traditionally used in the South Pacific as a relaxant.
Also, the herb Valerian root is excellent for sleep – it’s been traditionally used as a relaxant in Europe and the Americas for centuries. I think Gaia makes a Kava Kava-Valerian combination formula, in liquid capsules and tinctures. Or, like with the Kava Kava, you can get Valerian in its untasty-but-effective powdered form, in capsules, etc.
Hope you get some good sleep!

I know talking does, and sleepwalking. And being in certain positions.

But just now I walked in my room to get something and my boyfriend was sleeping. I walked over to him and softly kissed his lips. To my surprise, he kissed me right back. I know there’s no way he’s faking sleeping.. haha he’s snoring, and has to be up in 2hrs for work, and he’s hard as heck to wake up.

But him kissing me, can this just be natural? Does this come in sleep?

Are you worried that you are spending too much time thinking about things like this? Reading books could broaden your interests a little. the world is full of really interesting things to consider. certainly I wouldn’t waste much more time wondering how deeply your boyfriend was asleep. It doesn’t really matter much, and is certainly of very little interest to anyone reading through Yahoo Answers.

I’m 16 & my doctor said that he doesn’t like to prescribe sleep aids and that I should look at natural ones.
and these are the two I found.

my naturopath told me that melatonin can be good for emergency use, like if you’re a crazy insomniac and really need to sleep, but that it’s not good to take frequently because it messes with your hormones. she also said that valerian is good, but only if you’re not anxiety prone, as this can amplify your anxiety. if you don’t have probems with anxiety, you can drink it as a tea before bed, but you might want to mix it with other herbs since it tastes like wet hay.

here are some other good herbs for help with sleeping:

passion flower
lavender
scullcap
hopps
chamomile

you can make tea with any of these and they are sure to calm you down a bit

if that’s not enough, try counting down from 100 slowly, taking deep breaths for every number (i.e. breath in 100 breath out 99) while doing this imagine yourself in a beautiful place and focus on what you see, hear and smell there. when your mind tries to wander, imagine those thoughts as clouds, don’t fight them, just recognize their existence and let them float away.

having trouble sleeping could also be a sign that you’re not getting enough exercise. make sure you’re using your body each day and it will be a lot easier to fall asleep at night.

She has Cystic Fibrosis,And I already have to wake up two times to give her chest thumps (chest thumps get some of the phlegm out of her lungs),then after like, every two hours or less she wakes up!its Killing Me and My Boyfriend!!

Any Helpful Remedies To Cos Briella-Courtnie To Sleep??!!

Talk to her Dr about melatonin. It is a sleep hormone that our bodies produce to let us know we are tired. Melatonin supplement can be bought at health food stores and assists the body to fall asleep and stay sleeping. Since she has added medical concerns you need to consult her Dr before trying it though.

kava is the root of a south american tree, so it is natural…as for the pharma…I have my doubts…maybe its synthetic? try going on google and simply search for kava and you’ll see it does have beneficial calming effects on the central nervous system…but to answer your question I have not actually heard of the product itself in the sleep aid form (pill I assume)…but I do know kava itself is safe and natural

Try a glass of milk before bed. There are some herbal teas on the market one is bedtime tea by Celestial Seasons (I think I got that name right). They make one for stress and anxiety, I can’t remember the name but the same company makes it.

ii mean natural as in no sleepin pills or medicines..

ii am 17 and ii often cannot sleep for a long time..

ii willl lay in bed and get comfy as can be and still cannot sleep =\

Don’t listen to the loser above me with the mononucleosis thing! Try drinking warm milk before sleeping it actually does help sometimes. Also maybe there’s something on your mind that’s not allowing you to sleep. I’ve had plenty of horrible nights because I was busy thinking about a problem try to release that by keeping a journal and letting that stress or whatever it is go. Listening to soft music might help. Someimes I literally have to concentrate on falling asleep because my mind is racing but when I focus on sleeping and don’t let my mind drift off I always get some zzzzzz’s! Hope this helps !

Ok so I have always had a problem falling asleep. I am 24 now and I have experienced this problem since the age of 14. Whenever this problem becomes chronic, I visit a psychiatrist and he prescribes a hypnotic. I take hypnotics only when I am not able to fall asleep after hours of trying. I usually take Zolpidem but to tell you the truth, even though I have such a problem I am actually against taking such drugs.

I am from India and from the past one year I have been trying to find a sleep aid which is relatively safe and isn’t addictive. Maybe something thats natural? I know in countries like US etc you get supplements like Melatonin, 5HTP, Valerian etc. But I can’t find any of these here in India.

So my only hope is someone out here who might know of a sleep aid available in India. I know there are millions of people here in India who suffer from insomnia so it would be just unfair to find out no body knows of any such thing that’s available here.

And why exactly aren’t products like 5HTP made available in India?

This is ironic because systems of medicines like Unani and Ayurvedic have there roots in India and all they believe in are products that are natural and organic. Yet natural, organic products like 5HTP, Melatonin aren’t available here?

Did it work??
the product is actually called "straight 2 sleep" I’ve tried Valerian root and melatonin and even in the maximum dose did not work

No save your money. I bought 3 bottles
from someone who doesn’t give refunds
and the stuff is worthless. I used it now
for a week and it makes me feel a little
cloudy in about 20 to 30 minutes, but
getting to sleep is still the same tossing and
turning.
