Natural Sleep Remidies

how do you put someone to sleep naturally?

Filed under: Sleep Naturally — admin @ 6:23 pm

because my little sister (shes 14 yrs old) goes to sleep around 5:00 a.m. everyday even on school nights.

A warm glass of milk or a warm bath often calms people. Otherwise, make sure she avoids physical activity (working out, running around, cleaning, etc), caffeine, and sugar for at least 3 hours before whatever time she wants to go to bed. Also, I would avoid too much mental stimulation (like playing on the computer, action movies, etc) for a good hour or so before bed… mindless TV and/or calmer movies to help her mind calm down.

Granted, if this doesn’t work, she may have other issues that are keeping her up more than just "standard stuff" that most people work with. She may have anxiety or issues that are weighing on her mind that she just needs to talk to someone about… maybe a counselor, maybe someone she trusts. She also may have a medical condition (insomnia or something else) that’s keeping her up and may need to see a doctor to see what’s wrong. She may even benefit from some relaxing herbs like Chamomile (either in aromatic form, a tea, or something similar that would be suitable for a 14 year old person).

I’d try talking to her and see if everything is going okay… see if you can pick out anything that might indicate either of those. Good luck to the both of you!

  3. Well it sounds like she’s an insomniac…I would take her to her doctor and ask to get placed on some sleeping meds (non-narcotic so it’s not habit forming.) Also ask her if she’s having troubles at school or depressed about something. Maybe take her to get evaluated by a psychotherapist.

    Good Luck

  6. Have her take a warm bath with epsom salts. It relaxes you and will help to fall asleep. Also, a warm bath helps in sleeping because of the temperature change in your body.
A foot massage can relax you too if you know anything about reflexology it is possible to make someone tired through that.

Also chamomile tea, sleepytime tea, etc. can help in falling asleep. There are herbs too but if your sister is younger I don’t recommend them (Kava Kava, Lemon Balm, etc. for relaxation)
